UN-GGIM Europe Regional Committee Plenary Meeting Held

A plenary meeting of the UN-GGIM Europe Regional Committee was held on 7 October 2015 in Belgrade, the Republic of Serbia. Like the EuroGeographics General Assembly that preceded it, this plenary meeting was hosted by the Republic Geodetic Authority of the Republic of Serbia.

Mr. Bengt Kjellson, Chair of the UN-GGIM Europe Executive Committee and Director General of the geodetic authority of the Kingdom of Sweden, opened this one-day meeting with his opening and welcome address. The delegates present were also addressed by several prominent representatives of the United Nations (UN), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), while the keynote address and presentation were delivered by Mr. Linus Bengtsson, Executive Director of Flowminder (NGO, the Kingdom of Sweden). A reporting session was also organized with the purpose of getting the updates on the status and activities in all member states.

This year's reports of the UN-GGIM Europe working groups were also presented and discussed on this occasion.

The UN-GGIM Europe Regional Committee's plenary meeting was concluded with presentation, discussion, and adoption of the 2016 work plan.

The UN-GGIM Europe is a regional committee of the United Nations Initiative on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM). The Committee was formally established on 1 October 2014, when European members of the UN assumed full responsibility for their operations and adopted a work plan. The Executive Committee, helmed by Mr. Bengt Kjellson, Director General of the geodetic authority of the Kingdom of Sweden, oversees the activities and reports regularly to the Global Committee of the UN-GGIM Experts. Participation in the meetings of the UN-GGIM Europe Committee is by invitation only.

The Federal Administration for Geodetic and Real Property Affairs of FBH was represented on this occasion by its Director, Mr. Željko Obradović, and staff of the Department of Geoinformatics, Mr. Denis Tabučić.
