announcement of the seventh conference “Spatial Data Infrastructure Days of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina”

The seventh conference, “Spatial Data Infrastructure Days of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina” will be held on 24 September 2026 at the Hills Hotel in Ilidža (Sarajevo), organized by the Federal Administration for Geodetic and Real Property Affairs (FGA), with the support of the GeoConnect project, funded by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency under the Matra Programme.

This year’s conference has a strong international dimension, with 140 participants from 70 institutions and legal entities across eight countries registered to attend. Participants will include representatives of international projects and partner organizations from Sweden, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Croatia, and other countries. The conference aims to further raise awareness of the importance of SDI as well as the significance of standardization, interoperability, and the practical accessibility of spatial data.

The conference programme includes opening remarks, thematic sessions, and discussions on current developments in the field of spatial data, the further development of the Spatial Data Infrastructure of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SDI FBiH), and the international context. Particular attention will be given to the GeoConnect, GIVE, DELEF, and LiDAR projects, which represent an important part of the activities aimed at modernizing, improving the accessibility of, and enhancing the quality of spatial data in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

A highlight of the programme is the keynote presentation by Ms. Holli Howard from Google, who works with the geospatial community, public institutions, and partners through Google Maps to improve the quality and accessibility of spatial data. Her presentation, entitled “Regional Solutions from a Local Perspective: Geospatial Insights and Accessible Artificial Intelligence,” will explore these topics from a regional and local perspective.

The “Spatial Data Infrastructure Days of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina” conference provides an opportunity to connect institutions, experts, and users of spatial data from the public, private, and academic sectors; exchange knowledge and experience; and open up new topics of importance for the further development of the geospatial sector in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
