The project GeoWeb - Modernization of education of surveyors in the Western Balkans

During period October 16 -22, 2016 Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Belgrade hosted the new project "Erasmus + program" which began on October 15,2015 and will last until October of 2018. Title of the project "Modernization of geodetic education in the Western Balkans with an emphasis on competence and results." Dr. Huaan Fan from Royal Institute of Technology-Department of Geodesy and satellite positioning (KTH, Stockholm, Sweden) is Project coordinator.

The Project partners are: the European Union, Vienna University of Technology-Department of Geodesy and Geoinformation (TUW, Vienna, Austria), University of Leon (Ule, Leon, Spain), University of Belgrade, Department of Geodesy and Geomatics, University of Novi Sad - Department of Geodesy and Geomatics, University of Tirana, Department of Geography and Department of Geodesy, University of Sarajevo, Department of Engineering, University of Mostar, Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Tuzla - Department of Geography, Physical Planning Institute of Sarajevo Canton and BNPro Ltd. - Private geodetic company.

The Project objectives are: Modernisation of higher education in the field of geodesy, easier integration in EU partner countries, as well as strengthening of regional cooperation between countries of Western Balkans.

The planned activities of the Project are: the establishment of institutions regional database that carry out education of surveyors, the establishment of regional cooperation, construction of new laboratories for education purposes, semi-monthly and monthly courses in the field of GNSS, GIS, Geoid and the Earth's gravitational field, development of new curricula, new textbooks, as well as introduction of a new philosophy in the field of education of surveyors.

Status of surveyors in terms of quantity and quality in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina does not meet today growing opportunities, requirements and challenges and therefore the only way to improve the state of cooperation between all stakeholders: education institutions, the state administration in the field of geodesy and land registries, private companies and others that are related to this field.

With presentation "Geodetic activities at the Federal Administration for Geodetic and Real Property Affairs” given by Mr. Eldin Đonlagić, present situation and activities followed up by future challenges were presented.
