SDI FBIH STRATEGY ADOPTED BY GOVERNMENT OF FEDERATION BIH

The Federation Government at its 67th regular session, held in Sarajevo, have discussed and also adopted a "STRATEGY OF ESTABLISHING AND MAINTAINING SPATIAL DATA INFRASTRUCTURE IN FEDERATION OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA". On this occasion, the Strategy is introduced by Mr. Željko Obradović, Director of the Federal Administration for Geodetic and Real Property Affairs and Chairman of the Council of SDI in Federation BiH, while a presentation on the importance of creating a spatial data infrastructure and INSPIRE directive was held by Ms. Slobodanka Ključanin, consultant hired by the Geodetic Administration through the Regional IMPULSE project.

The overall objective of the adoption of this important document is to define strategies for paving the road for the establishment and maintenance of the SDI in FBiH which involves connecting key spatial data needed for adoption of political, economic and other decisions, and in addition to the public sector, also includes private sector, citizens, scientific and educational institutions.

The strategy will enable more efficient and faster establishment of SDI FBiH, which will significantly contribute to the horizontal and vertical integration of institutions on federal, cantonal and local level of government, which will improve political decision-making on the basis of updated spatial data, which will allow more adequate servicing of citizens, more efficient use of public resources, better spatial analysis and planning, easier monitoring of the initiated activities and informing the public, and have a positive impact on the economy of the Federation BiH.
