Sarajevo Hosts the 41st Conference of Geodetic and Cartographic Authorities of the Former Austro-Hungarian Countries

The Federal Administration for Geodetic and Real Property Affairs hosted the 41st Conference of Geodetic and Cartographic Authorities of Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, and the autonomous regions of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Trentino, and South Tyrol. The conference was held in Sarajevo from 17 to 19 June 2026 at Hotel Europa.

The conference brought together representatives of geodetic, cadastral, and cartographic institutions with the aim of exchanging experiences, presenting modern solutions, and strengthening international cooperation in the fields of land administration, cadastre, and spatial data management.

The central theme of this year's conference was the application of modern technologies and artificial intelligence in land administration systems, with a particular focus on the challenges and opportunities that digital transformation brings to geodetic and cadastral institutions. Participants discussed the improvement of the quality and accessibility of spatial data, process of automation, the application of advanced geospatial data processing methods, the use of artificial intelligence in cadastral records, and the development of digital services for citizens and institutions.

Special attention was given to the future development of cadastre and land administration systems, including improvements in data quality, the development of three-dimensional spatial models, interoperability of registry, and the opportunities offered by modern artificial intelligence-based tools for more efficient land and real estate management.

The Federal Administration for Geodetic and Real Property Affairs was represented through expert presentations by Sead Hadžić and Emina Kamber, who presented the Administration’s activities and experiences in the digitalization of cadastral records, the development of information systems, and the application of modern technologies in spatial data management.

During the conference, participants reaffirmed the importance of continuous international cooperation and knowledge exchange among institutions responsible for geodetic and cadastral affairs, particularly in a period of rapid technological development and an increasing need for reliable, up-to-date, and accessible spatial data.
