REGULAR MEETING OF THE STATE COMMITTEE FOR BORDERS OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA AND MONTENEGRO

The State Committee for borders of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro held a regular meeting in Podgorica on 18 and 19 September 2018. Delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina made Mr. Željko Obradović President of the State Committee for borders, Mr. Edin Kučuković Deputy of the President, Mr. Dragan Bajić member of the committee, Mr. Eldin Đonlagić, member of the expert working group and Mr. Amer Zoranić technical secretary.

Initialling of the Protocol on determination of a tripoint between Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Republic of Serbia was one of topics of this meeting. Text of the Protocol was agreed by expert working groups, and after initialling it will be referred in the preparation process for signing in accordance with the internal law of the signatory states.

It was discussed about possibilities of changing signed Protocol about tripoint of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Republic of Croatia, that will be the subject of meeting of these three committees. Marking the borderline between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro was also a topic, it is known that the Border Agreement has been signed on 26 August 2015 and now it’s the obligation to mark the border.

Common working group after making the Technical instruction on the look of the border markers, preparing the Marking Project after which the conditions for the borderline marking in the field will be possible.

The meetings ended up in an extremely friendly mood, and it is important to mention that Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro are one of the more successful countries in the region in dealing with border issues, and in this spirit is expected to continue the process of marking the borderline which is contract signed and identified. The next meeting will be held in Bosnia and Herzegovina when it is expected that the Protocol on the determination of the tripoint between Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and the Republic of Serbia will be signed.
