Public lecture on gender equality

Within the implementation of Real Estate Registration Project in the Federation BIH and with the support of Swedish donation project of Capacity Building for Improvement of Land Administration and Procedures in BiH (CILAP) a public lecture on gender equality during registration of marital property rights and acquisition of property rights according to inheritance law was held on March 30, 2016 in Bugojno.

At a public lecture citizens from the territory of the cadastral municipality of Bugojno were invited, where harmonization of cadastral with land registry data is ongoing process within Real Estate Registration Project in the FBIH. The lecture was held in the premises of the Municipal Court in Bugojno where everyone were initially welcomed by the president of the Court Ms. Randžana Hadžibegović Haračić.

The lecture was attended by 50 participants who had the opportunity to listen a lecture by Ms. Ajda Kurić, notary from Donji Vakuf, Ms. Amira Ždralović, judge of the Municipal Court in Bugojno and Mr. Senad Kaltak, head of Land Registry Office of the Municipal Court in Bugojno.

The focus of the lecture was to get acquainted women with the ownership rights and the role of marital partners in the real property affairs. The acquisition and transaction of property rights were emphasized, as a formal legal act where women are familiar with the importance of registering as it is a written and legal proof of property ownership. According to the current situation in the FBiH number of registered women as owners is significantly lower than men. Therefore, the aim of public lectures is to raise women's awareness of the associated rights and its protection and economic empowerment in the Federation BiH.
