A meeting on the occasion of the completion of works on the Basic Gravimetric Network of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republika Srpska, i.e., the Basic Gravimetric Network of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was held on 19 November 2014 in the offices of the Republic Administration for Geodetic and Real Property Affairs of the Republika Srpska in Banja Luka.
The Basic Gravimetric Network of Bosnia and Herzegovina was done under the CILAP Project – Capacity Building for Improvement of Land Administration and Procedures in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with Lantmäteriet (Swedish national agency for mapping, cadastre, and registration of rights) and the Republic Geodetic Institute of the Republic of Serbia.
The directors of both administrations, Mr. Željko Obradović and Mr. Miloš Komljenović, greeted the participants, giving brief addresses and reflecting on the importance of this successfully completed project.
The project's author, Miroslav Starčević, PhD, BS Geophysical Engineer, presented the process of establishment of the Basic Gravimetric Network of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the implementation of measurements, and the results obtained. He highlighted that the measurement results (standard error of absolute accelerations, mean value, and standard deviation) point to the fact that the Basic Gravimetric Network of Bosnia and Herzegovina was done in a manner of exceptional quality.
A follow-up to the gravimetric measurements and implementation of detailed gravimetric survey at the points that are from 3 km to 5 km apart were also discussed in this meeting, with a view to determining a geoid of centimeter accuracy on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
