Chisinau, the capital of Moldova, hosted on 28-30 September a regular annual general assembly of EuroGeographics, a nonprofit organization that gathers and represents European national cadastral and mapping agencies. EuroGeographics has 61 member agencies from 46 countries. The main theme of this year's general assembly was „National Cadastral, Land Registry and Mapping Activities in the Future of Europe“. A series of interesting presentations and lectures was held as part of the general assembly. Danko Markovinović, Director of the State Geodetic Administration (SGA) of the Republic of Croatia, presented two very important regional projects, Inspiration and Impuls. The Inspiration is funded by the European Union, while the Impuls is funded by the Government of the Kingdom of Sweden. These projects contributed significantly to understanding of the role of spatial data infrastructure in the Western Balkans countries and implementation of the INSPIRE Directive. Notable was also a round table on the role of new technology in cadastral agencies and the future and the role of cadastre in creation and distribution of geo-information.

As part of the general assembly, new members of the EuroGeographics Management Board were selected. In the next two years, along with the new members from the agencies of Belgium, Moldova, and Finland, Danko Markovinović, Director of SGA of the Republic of Croatia, will also be a member of the Management Board.

The inaugural general assembly of ERC UN-GGIM (the European Regional Committee of the United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management) was held on the third day of the general assembly. The task of this body will be to work on global and regional levels to improve geo-information management. Bengt Kjellson, Director of the Swedish Cadastre and Mapping Agency, will be the first Chairman of this organization for Europe. On behalf of the Federal Administration for Geodetic and Real Property Affairs of FBiH, which is an active member of EuroGeographics and, as of this year, of UN-GGIM, its Director, Mr. Željko Obradović, attended this year's annual assembly of EuroGeographics.
