The General Assembly of EuroGeographics for 2026 was held from 17 to 19 May 2026 in Ostend, Kingdom of Belgium. The event was organized by the National Geographic Institute of Belgium, with the support of the Belgian Cadastre, and brought together leaders of European national institutions responsible for cartography, cadastre, and land registry. The theme of this year’s General Assembly was “Geospatial for a Strong, Secure, Prosperous and Competitive Europe.”
The Federal Administration for Geodetic and Real Property Affairs was represented at the Assembly by Mr. Denis Tabučić, Assistant Director.
We would particularly like to highlight that Mr. Tabučić participated on Monday, 18 May, as a panelist in Session 2 – “Members Contributing to a Strong, Secure, Prosperous and Competitive Europe,” moderated by David Henderson. In addition to the representative of FGA, the panel included representatives of institutions from the Netherlands (Kadaster), Latvia (Latvian Geospatial Agency), Georgia (National Agency of Public Registry), and Finland (National Land Survey of Finland). The participation of the FGA representative in this panel represents recognition of the Administration’s contribution to the work of the Association and the European geospatial community, as well as confirmation of the continuity of our institution’s active engagement within EuroGeographics.
Opening remarks at the Assembly were delivered by Carl Decaluwé, Governor of West Flanders, and Jan Hoogmartens, Head of Cabinet to Hadja Lahbib, European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management. During the three-day program, participants discussed topics of importance for strengthening the European geospatial ecosystem — from mobilizing members and enhancing influence on decision-makers, through the development of European geospatial data and digital sovereignty, to engaging younger generations of innovators and improving cooperation with key institutions of the European Union.
In the formal part of the Assembly, the members adopted the financial documents for 2025, the Operational Plan and budget for 2026, amendments to the Statutes, and elected new members of the Management Board. Hosting of the next General Assembly, which will be held in 2027, was entrusted to Armenia (Yerevan), while the plans for its organization were presented by the delegate of the Cadastre Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
