EuroGeographics General Assembly 2020 in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Federal Administration for Geodetic and Real Property Affairs wil be hosting the EuroGeographics General Assembly in 2020. EuroGeographics General Assembly- the European National Mapping, Cadastre and Land Registry Authorities, after the General Assembly in Vienna 2017, Prague 2018 and London 2019 will be held in Bosnia and Herzegovina 2020, and this decision was confirmed at the EuroGeographics steering committee that was held in May, in Bruxelles. EuroGeographics General Assembly is the perfect opportunity to gather menagment of all relevant European Mapping and Cadastral Authorities, as well as representatives of other European organisations which have a significant impact in the geoinformatic field.

The main purpose of EuroGeographics is development of the European Spatial Data Infrastructure through collaboration in the geographic information area. Through this organisation members are sharing knowledge and experiences and collaborate to find solutions to common challenges. Main activities are focused on representing member's interests, transferring knowledge, developing capacities, creating and implementing projects, producing pan-European products based on the datasets from National Mapping, Cadastre and Land Registry Authorities. EuroGeographics currently has 63 Cadastre and Cartography Authorities in 43 countries.

Decision about hosting the EuroGeographics General Assembly in Bosnia and Herzegovina 2020 represents great recognition and big responsability for Federal Administration for Geodetic and Real Property Affairs. Event like this requires serious preparations and some of them are already being implemented. The Federal Administration for Geodetic and Real Property Affairs with implementation of demanding projects and results has been recognised beyond the borders of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Besides excellent cooperation with the World Bank- through the Real Estate Registration Project (RERP), FGA also successfully cooperates with the Swedish and Norwegian Mapping Agencies- through the CILAP Project- Capacity Building for Improvement of Land Administration and Procedures in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Public services for real estate market and EU integration Project. Federal Administration for Geodetic and Real Property Affairs also has experience in regional projects implementation: INSPIRATION Project, financed by the European Commision, the IMPULSE Project, financed by the Swedish Interational Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). Many young experts got the chance for employment and professional development through this projects. So, it is important to mention that the Federal Administration for Geodetic and Real Property Affairs, at this moment, in their capacities, has necessary skills and knowledge for organisation the 2020 EuroGeographics General Assembly in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is great recognition for the Federal Administration for Geodetic and Real Property Affairs and a unique opportunity for promotion of Bosnia and Herzegovina and their values.
