EUROGEOGRAPHICS 2017 GENERAL ASSEMBLY WAS HELD

From October 1st - 4th, 2017 a regular EuroGeographics General Assembly was held in Vienna (Austria). The host of this Year General Assembly was Geodetic Administration of the Republic of Austria - BEV (Bundesamt fur Eich und Vermessungswesen).

At the beginning, all members of Eurographics were greeted by Mrs. Ingrid Vanden Berghe, the chairman of Eurogeographics, followed by host, Mr. Werner Hoffmann, director of Geodetic Administration of the Republic of Austria and by Mr. Matthias Tschirf, Deputy Minister of Science, Research and Economy of the Republic of Austria who at the same time has opened work of the Assembly.

The main topics during this year General Assembly were related to impact of a new technologies and their application in the context of data security. A round table was also held within which answers regarding the most current questions in the domain of the latest technology were seek.

The Eurogeographics Strategy for the period 2017-2020, a Report on the work of the Steering Committee and the necessary financial documents were adopted. Two new members of Steering Committee were elected for the next two-year period.

The next regular Annual Assembly will be held in 2018 in Prague (Czech Republic). The Federal Administration for Geodetic and Real Property Affairs has been a member of EuroGeographics since Year 2006 and this year meeting was attended by Mr. Željko Obradović, Director.
