DIRECTOR OBRADOVIĆ GAVE A LECTURE AT THE SYMPOSIUM “LAND AS A FACTOR IN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA”

The symposium “Land as a Factor in Economic Development and Environmental Protection in Bosnia and Herzegovina” was held on December 4, 2025 as part of the planned activities of the Commission for Agriculture and Rural Development of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and on the occasion of December 5 – the UN World Soil Day.

Presenters were invited to prepare the listed topics in the form of academic papers, focusing on current issues in the field of land, with the aim of bringing these topics closer to the public, as well as to the professional and academic community, and contributing to improving the situation in this important area of agrarian policy in our country. One of the speakers at the Symposium was the Director of the Federal Administration for Geodetic and Real Property Affairs, Mr. Željko Obradović, who presented the topic “The State and Importance of Land Administration as a Management Tool in Spatial Planning and Agricultural Policy.”

In the economic sector, especially in the field of land, there are numerous current unresolved issues. Therefore, organizing this Symposium is extremely useful. It is important to emphasize that land policy and sustainable land management are complex in many aspects. This is particularly concerns for agricultural land, which is under constant human pressure and is often managed in an inadequate manner. Furthermore, issues such as land consolidation, cadastre, and forms of ownership have become limiting factors for the development of the economic sector, spatial planning, and society.

Based on the above, the goal of the Symposium was for relevant experts and scientists from specific fields to address individual topics — a goal was successfully achieved. The plan is to review and publish the papers in the form of Proceedings of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, both in print and electronic form, so that they can be accessible on a larger number of online platforms.
