An annual INSPIRE (Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the European Community) conference was held on 16 – 20 June 2014 in Aalborg, Denmark.
The INSPIRE conference was a unique event, bringing together data users, developers, suppliers and policymakers from throughout the European Union to discuss all topics involving the INSPIRE directive and beyond. Each year, a European INSPIRE conference is held to provide a forum for stakeholders from government, academia and industry to hear about and discuss the latest developments of the INSPIRE Directive. This conference provides an excellent opportunity to present the developments in national spatial data infrastructure to the European Community.
This year’s conference, "INSPIRE for Governance", hosted some 30 workshops, 5 plenary sessions, and around 200 presentations in parallel sessions, a poster session and exhibition.
The INSPIRE is currently finalizing its regulations, and, as with any project under development, it must go through its mid-term phase. The Member States have provided their view on the implementation of the Directive, a public consultation was launched in 2013, together with an independent assessment of progress. These and other related evidence on the costs, benefits, and impacts of INSPIRE are being consolidated in a mid-term evaluation report. The draft report was presented and debated at the conference in the plenary "INSPIRE at a crossroads?".
As part of a recently launched regional project, „IMPULS“, the conference was attended by staff of Federal Administration for Geodetic and Real Property Affairs of FBiH, Denis Tabučić and Tomislav Tomić.
