A CEREMONY REGARDING 200 YEARS OF CADASTRE IN AUSTRIA AND COUNTRIES OF THE FORMER AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN MONARCHY WAS HELD

On 4 October 2017 the ceremony regarding 200 years of cadastre in Austria and countries of the former Austro-Hungarian monarchy was held in Vienna. The ceremony took place in the building of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

The ceremony was attended by numerous notable guests of the public, cultural and economic life of the Republic of Austria, as well as numerous guests from various European countries. Considering that regular Eurogeographics Annual General Meeting in Vienna was held on October 1-3, most of the members, respectively directors of cadastral and cartographic agencies, attended this ceremony.

At the beginning of ceremony through the video link all present was greeted by Mr. Alexander Van der Bellen, the President of the Republic of Austria, thanking the all guests for their arrival and the Director of the Austrian Geodetic Administration on the achieved results. During introductory welcoming, Mr. Werner Hoffmann, the Director of the Austrian Geodetic Administration, also welcomed the guests and in his speech emphasized the importance of cadastral records in Austria, as well as the historical role of both Austria and all former countries of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. Then a film about the history of the cadastre in Austria and the current activities of the Land Administration sector in Austria was shown.

The participants, among others, were addressed and conveyed their congratulations to the Austrian Geodetic Administration by Mrs. Ingrid Vanden Berghe, the President of Eurogeographics, Mrs. Chryssy A. Potsiu, the President of the International Federation of Geodesists (FIG), Mr. Matthias Tschirf, Deputy Minister of Science, Research and Economics of the Republic of Austria and Mr. Georg Kathrein, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Austria.

The book "200 Jahre Kataster" were published the articles on establishment and role of the Austrian cadastre in Austria as well as in all the countries of the former Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy.

The Austrian cadastre and their property registration model is certainly one of the most successful in the world which in past had and today plays a major role in creating a Land Administration policy at both the national and the European and world levels.

The ceremony was also attended by Mr. Željko Obradović, the Director of the Federal Administration for Geodetic and Real Property Affairs.
