05.06.2015 12:27

As part of the agreed scope of the IMPULS Project and in line with the intent expressed in the previous regional initiatives – Memorandum of Cooperation in the Field of Spatial Data Infrastructure, the beneficiaries of this capacity building project signed an agreement on data sharing and implementing a pilot-case.

The subject of the agreed pilot-case is crisis management and prevention. Growing demand for cross-border data and need to further improve regional cooperation and regional dialogue in the field of cross-border crisis management have been recognized. Signature of this agreement under the capacity building project in the field of spatial data infrastructure – IMPULS is a proof of the desire to make advances in this field. It is also a proof of successful cooperation of the geodetic authorities in the region. The agreement was initially signed by six project participants.

The main objective of the IMPULS Project is for the countries of the region to have a modern and functional spatial data sharing framework in accordance with the regional and international requirements. The objective is also to speed up development of innovative INSPIRE services for better decision-making and achieve data and service interoperability. The project beneficiary countries are: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia, and Kosovo. The IMPULS Project is funded by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), with Lantmäteriet (Swedish geodetic authority) as a partner. The State Geodetic Administration of the Republic of Croatia participates as a Lantmäteriet's junior partner on this project.
